The Tutor-Marked Assignment is an essential part of your studies in NOUN. It helps you become more familiar with the course and serves as a medium of practice too. Due to the ways the questions are set, it helps you cover the course material as you study to answer them. With the TMA, you get to learn more while you acquire marks to contribute to your continuous assessment scores. TMAs are done online and at students’ convenience, but must be completed within a given window provided by the school’s department of exams and assessment. TMAs carry 30 marks, while your exams carry 70 marks each; the combination of both gives you a total of 100 marks per course. A good TMA grade assures you, to a great extent, of passing the course, when you do your very best in the exam. GSTs are general study courses designed to teach students and give them orientation on some basic, useful and very important concepts, such as The Use of English and Communication Skills (GST101 and GST102), Computer Fundamentals (GST103), Use of Library (GST104), History and Philosophy of Science (GST105), A Study Guide for the Distance Learner (formerly GST107/707/807 but now NOU107/707/807), Nigerian Peoples and Cultures (GST201), Introduction to Peace and Conflict Resolution (GST202), Introduction to Philosophy and Logic (GST203), Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GST204), and then Business Creation and Growth (GST302). We have seen how relevant and highly important these courses are to students, not just because NOUN students must pass them before they can graduate, but because we understand how these courses could impact the lives of NOUN students and possibly the Nigerian and African society at large; we have therefore chosen to tutor those courses for free. GST302 is one of the compulsory courses that NOUN undergraduate students must pass before they can graduate. It’s a 300 level second semester course. It involves students developing a business plan and also presenting it before a panel. The presentation carries 60 marks, while the exam for the course carries the remaining 40 marks.
